The Daniels Corporation
The Daniels Corporation (Daniels) exists with a purpose to build inclusive and sustainable communities for a better future for all. We understand that leading on diversity is central to building inclusive communities. To deliver on this purpose, we have demonstrated a commitment to increasing diversity both in our own workforce, and supporting the development of a diverse workforce within the broad real estate development and construction industries. Our commitment to diversity is reinforced by action which includes investments in first-source hiring, training and employment programs, and hiring policies among other programs and initiatives outlined in the sections below. Daniels has doubled down on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) over the last year when many organizations across real estate, when many organizations across real estate, construction, but also the economy at large, have found it challenging to invest in DEI. Furthermore, through our Social Impact work, we have developed programs that address broader social and economic challenges through a DEI lens, including affordable housing, accessible housing, and local economic development.
Tridel
At Tridel, we believe that our role as a homebuilder goes beyond the built environment. We recognize that investing in the social fabric and equality of opportunity for residents is integral to city building. Our work in community economic development (CED) within TCHC revitalization communities – where we are developer partners — allow us to play an active leadership role in policy development in creating opportunities for residents to succeed. We are proud to be fulfilling our commitments in supporting the residents of TCHC’s Leslie Nymark community this year. The Leslie Nymark community represents the first single-phase community revitalization development partnership between Tridel and Toronto Community Housing. We committed to supporting the residents of Leslie Nymark throughout the relocation and return process, including opportunities for community engagement like school supply and holiday giveaways, community dinners and gatherings, and employment readiness support. With the revitalization coming to an end, we provided $100k towards scholarships & bursaries, facilitated 18 employment opportunities and 16 training and career exploration opportunities. Additionally, Tridel is the developer partner for Phases 1 and 2 of the Alexandra Park Revitalization Project. Phase 1 saw the employment of 40 local residents and a contribution of $80,000 towards employment programming.
